SHIPPING PROCEDURE

Recent price increase from the airlines due to fuel charges!!!

Shipping has been made easy for you. Based on both the puppy’s readiness and the customer’s availability to receive the pup, I will make all of the arrangements and provide you with the flight schedule and confirmation number. All you have to do is go to the airport and pick up your new puppy. You will need to bring along 2 pieces of ID to claim your pup. If you live within the 48 main states of the U.S., then shipping will normally cost you $250-$275. This includes the airfare, kennel and health certificate required for the airlines. I use Continental if the puppies weight and crate combined are 9 lbs and under. Prices will vary if you are shipping an adult dog as fairs will be based on size of kennel used and destination.  Some of the airlines have also started charging $50 to $75 for day kenneling fees if their layover is more than 4 hours between flights.  I try and avoid these flights if at all possible.

I prefer to use Continental Airlines whenever possible, because there are no weather restrictions. They keep your puppy in a climate-controlled office until they are ready to load the plane. They are transported to and from the plane in vans. I have never had any problems or concerns using this airline. I will instruct you on where to pick up the puppy. It will either be at the baggage claim office or the cargo facility. I will also provide you with the phone number to the pet desk should you need further instructions. The airlines have strict guidelines regarding live animal transport. If we use an airline that requires a temperature acclimation statement, brachy cephalic (snub nose) dogs can only ship if the temperature is under 70 degrees and above 10 degrees. This applies for all points of destination (including layovers).

I do reserve the right to decide not to ship a puppy if it is to small, or if I have concerns about the puppy’s maturity level. I do not feel comfortable about shipping my very tiny pups. I can hold them until they are big enough to ship, I can meet you at the airport and you can carry the puppy on board with you, or you can arrange to pick them up.  If you fly in to pick up your puppy, I could deliver them to you at the St. Louis, Missouri Airport.  You would need to bring with you the puppies carry on bag or smallest crate available (must be able to fit under the seat on the airplane), a change of bedding and food and water containers.  You will need a certificate of health required by the airlines.  I can pick one up from my vet at the time of their vet check if you would like.  I pay for the exam but the health certificate is $35 (the vet just increased their prices also!).

There is a new company called Snappy Pets that offers door to door delivery.  It is more expensive as it will be $350 to $375, including the health certificate.  It is an option some people may prefer since they won't have to have their puppy shipped.  You can read about his service at http://www.pets4you.com/pages/asnappypet.htm?

I do expect full payment plus the shipping cost to be paid at least 2 days PRIOR to shipping if paying by money order.  If you are paying by personal check, the payment must be received 2 weeks prior to the puppies departure.  If the payment is not received, than shipping will be postponed until the following week.
