SHIPPING PROCEDURE
Shipping via Airline
Shipping has been made easy for you. Based on both the puppy’s readiness and the customer’s availability to receive the pup, I will make all of the arrangements and provide you with the flight schedule and confirmation number. Shipping is done on Fridays. All you have to do is go to the airport and pick up your new puppy. If you are unable to pick up your puppy personally, please make arrangements for a friend or family member to pick them up for you. Whoever picks up them up will need to bring along 2 pieces of ID in order to claim your pup.
If you live within the 48 main states of the U.S., then shipping will normally cost $250, This includes airfare, kennel and health certificate required by the airlines. Prices will vary if shipping an adult dog as fares are based on size of kennel and destination. Some of the airlines also charge $50 to $75 per day for kenneling fees if the layover is more than 4 hours between flights. I try to avoid these flights if at all possible.
I will use the airline that has the best flight for your puppy to arrive the quickest. Since I live 3 hours from the airport I have contracted a reputable company called Airbound pets. I drive an hour and a half to meet them late Thursday night and then they drive the rest of the way to the airport. I put the puppy in the crate along with their food. Airbound pets puts ice chips in their water dish when they get to the airport. They take very good care of the dogs and I have had wonderful luck with them. All babies have arrived safely! If you would ever like to fly in on a Thursday night to pick up your pup from Airbound pets so you can fly your puppy home onboard with you, you have that option. You have to pick up the puppy by 6 AM on Friday morning and the fee is $25 for the health certificate (which you still need) and rabies vaccine. They charge me $35 for the transport fee so the $60 would need to be paid to me in advance. The location you would fly into is MCI-Kansas City International.
I will provide instructions where to pick up the puppy. It will either be at the baggage claim office or the cargo facility. I will also provide you with the phone number to the pet desk should you need further instructions.
The airlines have strict guidelines regarding live animal transport. If we use an airline that requires a temperature acclimation statement, brachy cephalic (snub nose) dogs can only ship if the temperature is under 75 degrees and above 10 degrees. This applies for all points of destination (including layovers).
I do reserve the right not to ship a puppy if it is too small, or if I have concerns about the puppy’s maturity level. I do not feel comfortable shipping my very tiny pups. I can hold them until they are big enough to ship or you can arrange to pick them up. You are welcome to come to our home to get them.
St. Louis, MO is the closest airport and is approximately a 2 1/2 hour drive if you want to fly in and then drive to our house to pick up the puppy. If you are flying back with your pup you will need to bring the puppy’s carry on bag or smallest crate available (must be able to fit under the seat on the airplane), a change of bedding and food and water containers. You will need a health certificate required by the airlines. I can pick one up from my vet at the time of their vet check if you would like. I pay for the exam but the health certificate is $25.
Payment
I do expect full payment plus the shipping cost to be paid at least 2 days PRIOR to shipping if paying by money order. If you are paying by personal check, the payment must be received 2 weeks prior to the puppy’s departure. If the payment is not received, than shipping will be postponed until the following week.
